Clinical Assessment and Decision Making (NHS Lothian Collaborative Module)

±ØÉ侫ѡ offers the short course in Clinical Assessment and Decision Making in collaboration with NHS Lothian. This is delivered as a single module and offers clinical and professional development opportunities for registered healthcare professionals working in an appropriate area.

Clinical Assessment and Decision Making: In brief

This module is designed to support the development of practitioners within primary or secondary care (adult and/or children and young people) who require development of clinical competence in clinical assessment and person-centred clinical decision making. Ìý

Successful completion of Clinical Assessment and Decision Making attracts 40 credits at Scottish Credit Qualification Framework (SCQF) level 10.Ìý

How will I be taught?

Structure: This is a single module which is delivered every 6 months in January and SeptemberÌý

Delivery: BlendedÌý

This module is designed to be student-centred and encourages students to take ownership of their individual learning needs to fulfil their different role requirements. Virtual study sessions will be delivered and facilitated by the module team and clinical experts. These will utilise a range of teaching and learning experiences including lectures, problem-based tutorials, seminar groups, and group discussion. Key to this module is student engagement in clinical work-based learning within your own clinical workplace. This provides the opportunity to enhance and consolidate your classroom learning with clinical colleagues and practice assessors.Ìý

Duration: 6 monthsÌý

Outcomes: 40 credits at SCQF level 10. The module does not lead to professional registration.
Completion of this module (or equivalent) is a prerequisite for anyone planning to apply for an Advanced practitioner traineeship in NHS Lothian.Ìý

Clinical Assessment and Decision Making: Entry requirements and application information

Entry requirements: The module is open to registered healthcare practitioners working in an appropriate area. Applicants must be registered with a professional body (ie NMC, HCPC, GPC, etc).
